What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure using thin needles to create controlled micro “injuries” in the skin that trigger new collagen synthesis, yet do not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The micro-injuries trigger the body’s natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production. The procedure can help reduce the appearance of skin concerns such as acne scarring, wrinkles or fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone or skin discoloration. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin. Microneedling procedures are performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of a sterile microneedle head.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) can be added to the microneedling treatment to further stimulate the skin’s natural healing process and boost collagen production. The combination of microneedling and PRP can provide several benefits, including: enhanced collagen production, accelerated healing, improved skin texture and tone, and long-lasting results.

ZO® Firming Serum Accelerated or ZO® Brightalive Serum Accelerated can also be added on to the microneedling treatment to amplify treatment. What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma treatment is an advanced minimally invasive procedure that is used to stimulate collagen production. PRP is the “liquid gold” shown to improve fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, hair loss, dullness, and scarring. It is derived from a small amount of blood drawn that is spun in a specialized centrifuge, which separates the blood into plasma, platelets, and red blood cells. The PRP contains growth factors and other bioactive substances that are believed to stimulate the body's natural healing processes.

PRP can be microneedled or injected right under the skin to boost collagen and elastin, and to stimulate hair follicles promoting healthy hair growth. Hair restoration with PRP has shown promising outcomes in strengthening the function of your hair, leading to longer, thicker, healthier locks. PRP is known to slow, stop and even reverse baldness.

What to expect from hair restoration with PRP

The process begins by drawing some of your blood and putting it in a specialized machine, which separates the platelets from the rest of the blood. After that, a local anesthetic is applied to your scalp and the PRP serum is injected into areas that are bald or thinning. There’s no downtime after this process so you can return to your usual activities. Results differ for everyone but are usually seen around 3-6 months after the first treatment. Repeat treatments are recommended every 3-4 months for 4 sessions with maintenance treatments repeated every 1-2 years.

What to expect from microneedling or injecting PRP

A topical numbing cream is applied to ensure you don’t not experience discomfort during your treatment. Your blood is then drawn and spun down to to make a “liquid gold”. The PRP is then microneedled or injected under the skin to boost collagen and elastin. Any remaining PRP is massaged into the skin. Microneedling with PRP can be administered every 4-6 weeks. Results are usually noticeable within 1-2 weeks after treatment. When treating skin conditions such as deep lines and wrinkles, it may take several treatments before noticing results. The most common sides effects include bleeding, bruising, swelling and redness which will commonly improve within 1-2 days after treatment. 4-6 treatments are recommended for best results
